The Social Security Administration (SSA) completed a migration is migrating from Win NT 4 to WS 2003 and implementing AD for first time as part of the nationwide WOSM (Windows Oriented Systems Migration) project. ST Net was selected to provide this nationwide training. This customized AD course was provided to SSA's Area System Coordinators (ASC's) and regional IT Support personnel, Site LAN Coordinators (SLC's), who work directly with ASC's. ST Net trained 425 Site LAN Coordinators (SLC)'s and Area Site LAN Coordinators at one time. The ASC's were brought into Baltimore Aug 24 and 25 to SSA Headquarters from all over the country to receive 2 days customized Active Directory training for WS 2003. Orange delivered a pilot class with 15 trainees before the actual training to receive direct input on the course design and coverage of content. This was very useful in implementing the final training and brings it closer to the training objectives set forth by SSA/OAS. A train-the-trainer session was held for all 9 instructors. The 2-day training was designed with the first day setup for lecture and the second day for hands on labs. SSA's requirements were met the first day as lecture presented by our head Instructor to all 425 trainees in a grand ballroom. For second day, the group was divided into size of 30 and 60 trainees and 9 instructors were assigned to each of 9 rooms equipped for labs. Training content and labs used for this training were designed and customized by ST Net upon receiving the topics to be covered from SSA staff. ST Net also designed the lab network and worked with SSA staff to understand their existing network layout. ST Net used our proven end-to-end integrated approach solution to respond to this training requirement permitting us to meet the diverse SSA end user community needs while satisfying SSA contract performance, within schedule, and the lowest costs. The tailored SSA training approach, shown in the figure below, focused on tailoring the standard technical training to the SSA environment through our proven "custom teach" concept. This tailored training approach integrated the Microsoft Active Directory technology, the SSA users' physical environment and current SSA Microsoft Active Directory technology work processes. By using practical exercises honed to the SSA user work environment, training presentation was greatly enhanced, easily applied and more interesting to the SSA training population. Our lifecycle approach, shown in the figure below begins and ends with the SSA user, with our established training development and execution providing the tools to complete the course. Initially, we identified the training goals and requirements to address the "customer total training population." In the execution of this logical, life-cycle approach, ST Net also provided the necessary technical, management, and quality assurance processes coupled with the necessary support infrastructure to efficiently address the SSA training tasks and perform the necessary management oversight, and control as well as the unique reporting required by the SSA contract. ST Net training was well received by SSA training participants and ST Net received excellent ratings from the training attendees who participated in the SSA Active Directory instruction.
